2009 City Accomplishments
Current Projects:
Gary Pirkle Park:
- Grand Opening – March 13, 2010 at 11:00am
- Park includes: playground and pavilion, Community Garden, concession/restroom facility, natural grass fields, largest synthetic turf field in the southeast (over five acres), over 1.5 miles of lighted asphalt walking paths, huge pavilions, bleachers for sporting events, parking, bridges and a covered pedestrian bridge.
- Future amenities will include, more parking with bio-filtration stormwater controls, additional restrooms, educational building at the Community Garden
- Tennis Complex is planned to have additional parking, restrooms, putt-putt course and eight (8) lighted tennis courts.
EE Robinson Park:
- 18 acre expansion project is under construction; Reeves contracting is installing over 200 new parking spaces, an entrance road from Peachtree Industrial Blvd to the main park. This addition will be completed in the fall of 2010 and will use bio-filtration techniques to address stormwater controls.
- Constructing two (2) lighted tournament quality Little League fields
- Constructing three (3) T-Ball fields along Level Creek Road.
- Constructing new Maintenance and Storage Building – RFP April 2010
Sugar Hill Golf Club:
- Clubhouse Renovation – will be completed march 2010
Roads & Sidewalks:
- Level Creek Road sidewalk/drainage next to EER Park – 2010
New City Hall:
- Currently interviewing architectural firms – selection April 2010
- Request for Qualification/Proposals (RFQ/P) for Construction Management – April or May 2010
- Construction to begin late 2010
Downtown:
- Storm water retention/detention amenity pond and amphitheater has been designed and engineered – RFP for construction April 2010 – begin summer 2010.
- West Broad St. and Alton Tucker Improvement Project: underground utilities, pedestrian friendly wide sidewalks and road crossings, decorative streetlights and landscaping, new wider road with on street parking – RFP for construction May 2010 summer/fall 2010.
Natural Gas:
- Relocating gas lines in preparation for the downtown district – on going
Schools:
- County - Lanier High School – fall 2010
- County - Roberts Elementary School – fall 2010
Commercial Development:
- Kroger on Hwy 20 – under construction
- Lighthouse Childcare – PIB 2010
- Tri-County Medical Office -
- Target on PIB – estimated 2011
