Outdoor Severe Weather Warning System
In order to better protect the residents within the Sugar Hill Community, the City of Sugar Hill has contracted with Sirens for Cities to install outdoor emergency weather warning sirens.
The City of Sugar Hill’s outdoor warning siren system consists of six (6) sirens placed strategically throughout the city as a warning device to alert citizens outdoors of imminent severe weather. These sirens are connected to and automatically activated by the National Weather Service.

Gwinnett Police Department offers online crime maps
Interactive, online neighborhood crime mapping at www.crimemapping.com allows Gwinnett residents to see where and when various criminal activities have been reported near their neighborhood or street address.
Combining Google maps with Gwinnett Police crime reports, the system is updated frequently so the public can get timely, accurate information.
Visit www.crimemapping.com to access this information. The site includes features such as frequently asked questions to help users access information on the site. Crime data is uploaded every 24 hours.
Gwinnett County Hazard Mitigation Plan
The key purposes of the Gwinnett County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) include the following:
- Involve members of the county, cities, townships, public and other agencies to draft and adopt a multi-jurisdictional mitigation plan that serves as the blueprint for future development and preparedness activities across the county.
- Identify risks and hazards that may affect Gwinnett County through a systematic hazard identification and risk assessment process.
- Prioritize loss reduction and emergency preparedness activities for disasters.
- Determine areas within Gwinnett County that may be vulnerable to various hazards.
- Develop strategies and the best practices to avoid and mitigate the impact of identified hazards.

Plaza Security

Plaza Security On Duty
The City of Sugar Hill has entered into a contract with Plaza Security LLC to provide extra patrols for the City. Their presence will be as a deterrent to potential crimes enacted in our City. The City has been tracking areas of various infractions that have occurred and we will share this data with Plaza, and Gwinnett County.
Sugar Hill Residents pay taxes for Gwinnett County Police and Fire protection. Gwinnett County is trained for all types of First Response Emergencies.
Plaza Security is not a First Responder; they are not licensed, equipped, or authorized for First Response actions.
We want to involve the citizens of Sugar Hill in the effort to have a safe environment. Plaza will be available to speak with Home Owners Associations, to introduce themselves, and discuss ways they may provide additional security. Call City Hall (770)-945-6716 to schedule a meeting.
