City Manager Update Report

June 2009

 

 

City Hall:

  1. City website: www.cityofsugarhill.com   Construction Watch icon; Electronic Packets; Newsletters and events.
  2. *   Plaza Security is a private company hired by the City to put an extra set of eyes on the road to help deter and report illegal activity.  They are available for HOA meetings, 770-455-0905.
  3. Sugar Hill Clean-Up Days; Very successful, 270,000 pounds (135 tons) of household waste was picked up.
  4. First Mosquito Spraying will begin June 15th.  Flyers have been sent out with the Natural Gas Bills.
  5. Sugar Hill millage rate is being voted upon tonight and will stay at 3.8 mils (no change). This rate has been constant since 2001.
  6. Public Meeting June 24th, 6 – 8pm, in the Community Center for inputs of new City Hall.

Streets:

  1. The 2009 Road Resurfacing Project list is on the City website.  We are 85% complete.
  2. Railroad Ave and Old Suwanee Road have been resurfaced and curbing has been installed.  Drainage and sidewalks are being installed: 90% complete.  

Planning and Zoning: May

  1. 25 Construction Permits.
  2. 41 Building Inspections.
  3. 27 Erosion Control Inspections.
  4. Report possible City Code Violations: www.cityofsugarhill.com using the CARES form on the Home Page. 

Recreation:

  1. Reels at Robinson; June 19th “Star Wars – The Clone Wars” will be shown at dusk.
  2. *   Gary Pirkle Park vehicle and pedestrian bridges; have begun construction.
  3. *   Gary Pirkle Park synthetic athletic fields; Complete.
  4. *   Gary Pirkle Park Concession Stand Building; awarded to Ward Construction.
  5. *   Gary Pirkle Park Phase I construction is going well; Fall 2009 opening.
  6. *   Precision Planning has completed initial grading plans for the 18 acres to expansion of EE Robinson Park.  This design will use bio-filtration techniques for stormwater collection and will have paths, approximately 200 parking spots, a playground and a 400 foot baseball/softball ball field.  Phase I will be the road, parking and bridge.

Golf:

  1. The Golf Course is in the best condition ever and one of the best values in the Atlanta area.  Weekday resident prices are $29 and non-resident $39.  Call the Pro Shop, 770-271-0519, to reserve tee times and lessons.
  2. Clubhouse expansion / renovation proposals have been reviewed; Hobgood was selected as the contractor. 

Gas: 

  1. Pay ONLINEwww.cityofsugarhill.com  or Automatic Payment Service, call City Hall, 770-945-6716.
  2. 1 new service in May.
  3. Sugar Hill’s price per therm for the 20 May – 5 June invoice was $.76.
  4. Total Price comparison for May has not been updated by the PSC.
