Comprehensive Plan (Adopted in January 2009):
The City of Sugar Hill Comprehensive Plan evaluates the current strengths of the community and creates a vision for the future. The plan addresses items such as population growth, development patterns, economic development, natural and historic resource preservation, and other items as they relate to Sugar Hill. The plan is broken down into three main elements: Community Assessment, Data Assessment, and Public Participation.
The Community Assessment evaluates the current conditions in the City and identifies issues, opportunities, strengths, and weaknesses in the community.
The Data Assessment examines current and past demographic trends and forecasts future trends based on these assumptions.
The Public Participation component relies on feedback from residents, business owners, and other people with a vested interest in the future of the City.

Planning Commission:
The Planning Commission holds regular meetings on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Sugar Hill Annex Building, located adjacent to City Hall, provided there are agenda items to be addressed. All meetings at which official action is to be taken are open to the public. Meetings that occur on holidays will be rescheduled accordingly.
Agendas are prepared by 5:00 PM on the Wednesday preceding each regular Planning Commission meeting. The agenda shall include matters to be considered by the Planning Commission. No matter shall be considered by the Planning Commission at a regular meeting which is not on the agenda. If there are no agenda items for a given month, there will be no meeting for that month. The Planning Commission Chairman shall schedule all called meetings.
Applications and Forms:
Listing files in 'P&Z Applications & Forms'
In an effort to stream line and expedite the Development Review Process, this form shall be required with EACH submittal and resubmittal. The original form shall be completed by the applicant in its entirety except for sections shaded in gray which are intended for internal staff use only. No Plans, Plats, Stormwater Management Reports, etc. will be accepted if the original form is incomplete.
(Annexations, Rezonings, Special Uses, Changes in Zoning Conditions)
This checklist should be used as a guide by the design professional or owner during the planning and design process. There are almost always issues unique to each project so the checklist may not be a complete checklist but it should be used for quality control of each submittal. Currently, the checklist only covers site development reviews; however, we are working on incorporating the requirements for subdivision plans and will update the form soon.

Residential & General Contractors State License Requirements:
The Georgia General Assembly created the State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors in 2004 to regulate individuals engaged in construction contracting. Applicants for licensure must pass a two-part examination covering the license they are attempting to obtain, and business and law. The Board has the authority to adopt rules, set standards for licensure, adopt mandatory standards of professional conduct, and investigate and discipline unauthorized, negligent or incompetent practice.
