2009 Comprehensive Plan

The City of Sugar Hill Comprehensive Plan evaluates the current strengths of the community and creates a vision for the future. The plan addresses items such as population growth, development patterns, economic development, natural and historic resource preservation, and other items as they relate to Sugar Hill. The plan is broken down into three main elements: Community Assessment, Data Assessment, and Public Participation.

The Community Assessment evaluates the current conditions in the City and identifies issues, opportunities, strengths, and weaknesses in the community.

The Data Assessment examines current and past demographic trends and forecasts future trends based on these assumptions.

The Public Participation component relies on feedback from residents, business owners, and other people with a vested interest in the future of the City. Public Opinion Survey

Building or Replacing Decks

For those citizens who may wish to build a deck, or repair a deck on their home, stop by the City Planning office and pick up a copy of Chapter 3 from the U.S. Forestry Service. (U.S. Dept. of Agriculture)

These pages will answer most questions you may have in building or replacing a wooden deck on your home, from posts and footings, to joist spans, to decking methods.

The Planning Department is located on the second floor of Sugar Hill City Hall.
